Week of January 14th to 18th

Grade 1
This week we read the book There was an old lady who swallowed a fly, a classic! The kids love this book! We laughed at the old lady that eats too many animals! We then make our own old lady brown bag puppet where the kids can have the old lady eat the animals and put them in the bag. This activity is always a favourite for the students. They should be bringing them home today or this week so make sure you ask them to tell you the story with the puppet!
Ps: the grade 1 students are allowed to bring their teddy bear or other stuffed animal to school to their English class. Please read the note found in your child's agenda. Thank you

Grade 2
This week we reread the book The Zoo by Rod Campbell. The book is about a child asking the zoo for the perfect animal. But the zoo send him all sorts of animals that are not appropriate for the kid or for a house! Finally they send the perfect animal! Can you guess what it is?
The kids then have to make their own letter to the zoo asking them what animal they would like.

Grade 3
This week we continued working on prepositions: on, under, in and over. The students had a little listening exercise to make sure they knew their positions. They did well. We are now working on a guess where is my character. The students had to put 4 stick figures on the page and next class they will have to have their partner guess where they put the figures. ex: the stick man is on the volcano, the stick man is under the tree, the stick man in on the rock etc. It will be fun and this will allow me to evaluate oral interaction and comprehension.

Have a great week

Happy New Year! Hope you have the best year yet!!!

Grade 1
Last week we worked on the song '5 little monkeys' from super simple songs. We learned the characters in the song then we learned the movements to the song then we practiced the song twice! It was a lot of fun! Here is the link to the song if you want to practice it with your kids! ENJOY!

Grade 2
Last week the students and I read the story 'The pigeon needs a bath' from Mo Willems. The book is about a pigeon who makes a million excuses to NOT take a bath! It is really a cute and fun book that the kids enjoy! I then asked them to draw how and what they like to do in the bath. Some students like hot water and love to play with their brother or sister, some like cold water and just like to relax in their bath. They will finish this project then share with the rest of the class.

Grade 3
Last week we worked on the verbs we will see in the new unit Super Powers. So we saw action verbs like walk, run, climb, push, pull, lift etc. The students will need to know them and what they mean as they will need to use them in their final task. The students really are working well and it is a very nice group. Keep up the good work!
