Week of November 24th to 28th

Grade 1
This week we worked on the book The very Cranky bear by Nick Bland. The students love his books. My intern has been little by little working with the classes so she is the one teaching the classes for the next two weeks. They worked on the vocabulary from the book then they did an activity to reinforce their understanding of the book. It was great fun.

Grade 2
This week we worked on the book "Bark George". The kids loved the book and we learned words like: vet, dog, cow, pig etc. The students then had to put the book images in the correct sequence to see if the kids understood the story. We then played a game of memory where the kids had to speak to each other in English. It was very cute!

Grade 3
This week we are working on our final project of our writing task. The students are working on writing the sentences and I will help them with the correction of their text then they will write the corrected text and draw their image that goes with the text. They are workind hard!

Week of November 12th to 14th

Report card week
last rush before the report cards and parent teacher meeting.

week of November 5th to 9th

Grade 1
This week we worked on the book Pete the cat and his 4 groovy buttons. The students were introduced to Pete,  the character of the story. He had white shoes but then he stepped into a pile of strawberries, then blueberries then mud and finally a bucket of water. His shoes were no longer white! Make sure you ask your kids what colours did Pete the cat's shoes become! We then made a Pete the cat craft to glue inside our blue books. The kids loved it!!!

Grade 2
We read the book "To fill a bucket". The students learned the ways we can fill someone's bucket (by doing good actions) or dip someone's bucket (by doing bad or mean things). The kids then received a page and had to cut and glue out the images and place them in the correct column: bucket dipper or bucket filler. They were really cute working on it!

Grade 3
We are still working on our unit on body parts. The kids are now given a reading period (of an English book) during English class. So please encourage your kids to borrow and bring their English book to school for class. Also don't forget to encourage your kids to work on the challenges found in their agenda under the month of November. Thank you for your collaboration.

week of October 29 to November 02

Grade 1

This week we read the book Mommy and the kids had to help the little monster boy find his mother by opening doors. We found many different monsters like Frankenstein, vampire, werewolf etc. Then the student had to  draw their costume in their blue books and get ready to share with the rest of the class.

Grade 2
The students had to  draw their costume in their blue books and we then started presenting their costume to the rest of the class.

Grade 3
The students got a little work in last week on our body part unit then we celebrated Halloween by watching a little bit of a film : Hotel Transylvania 1 in English of course!

week of October 22nd to 26th

Grade 1
This week I asked the students to share with me and the class what they were going to be for Halloween. They then had to draw their costume in their blue books and get ready to share with the rest of the class.

Grade 2
This week we worked on Halloween vocabulary and we did our bingo game. The kids were happy and they all won stickers!

Grade 3
We are still working on body parts and we worked on adjective order in a sentence. In English we write the adjective before the noun so we practiced this a lot. ex: a long nose, two short arms, a round head etc...

week of October 15th to 19th

Grade 1
This week we worked on the song "GO AWAY" and practiced the words we saw in that song. We looked over the vocabulary and then we sang the song. We then coloured a monster following the colours corresponding to the numbers on the page. Here is the link to the song if you want to practice and sing with your kids!

Grade 2
We worked on our Halloween bingo page and worked on the vocabulary found with the images. The students had to finish it at home so we can play next week as a group!

Grade 3
We worked on our unit Body Parts and continued with the vocabulary and work in the book. I also sent back their tests with them so it should be in their agendas. Please take a look at it and you can be proud as they did very well!

Week of October 8th to 12th

Grade 1
this week we only saw each other one time. We read the book "There was an old lady who swallowed a bat". The students worked on Halloween vocabulary again and we had a page to work after they read the book. It was very fun and the kids had to try recall the information of the book to do the work asked.

Grade 2
We continued working on the song "Knock Knock, Trick or Treat" by Super Simple Songs. We reviewed the song and sang it another time. We had fun learning and singing the song. Then they got to chose a mask to colour.

Grade 3
We started the new unit on Body Parts. We reviewed body parts and played a game called Simon says to practice body parts. They kids are working hard I am very happy!

week of October 1st to 5th

Grade 1
This week we worked on Halloween vocabulary and read the book Big Pumpkin By Erica Silverman. The witch wanted to eat pumpkin pie and she then planted a pumpkin seed. But once the pumpkin grew it was to big to pull out of the garden all by herself! She then met new friends like a vampire, a bat, a mummy and a ghost. Ask them about the book, they loved it!

Grade 2
This week we learned and sang the song Knock Knock Trick or treat by Super Simple Songs. The kids got to learn words like ballerina, ghost, monster etc. They then got to make a mask and we asked then who are you? and they had to answer me their mask! They are very good!!! Grade 3
This week we had our test and everyone survived!!! They did very well and they will get their results soon. We are now going to start a new unit on clothes and body parts! It will be fun!

week of September 24th to 28th

Grade 1
This week with my grade one students we continued working on learning our colours. We read the book " What colour is your underwear" by Sam Lloyd. The kids love the silly story about animal wearing coloured underwear and it has a very funny ending!

Grade 2
This week we continued with behaviour and things we can do at school and can't do at school! The students read a funny story about monsters going to school and the bad ideas they have! The students then had to sort the behaviour in the correct category Children behaviour vs Monster behaviour.

Grade 3
This week we continued and are working on revising our words in English as to prepare for our test next week. The students also received our Goals in October in their agenda. Please encourage your children to try and get more English in your lives by doing these simple little things! ex: watch 15 minutes of TV in English, read a book in English, say good morning or good afternoon to Miss Elisabeth, find 5 words that start with the letter B and share with the class. Look in your kids agenda please!

Week of September 17th to 20th

Grade 1
This week we worked on the colour song. Feel free to practice it at home with your kids!

Grade 2
This week we had a Pedagogical Day on the day that I usually see my grade 2 students. :-(

Grade 3
We are still working on our back to school unit. The students will need to know their words and be able to know and recognize them easily. There will soon be a test on this. Thank you!

Week of September 10th to 14th

Grade 1
This week we worked on our How are you song and the kids had to glue and put the faces in the correct boxes. We worked very hard and the kids got to practice their how are you again. The groups are really fun to work with!

Grade 2
This week we finished our This summer page and we got to practice presenting our summer vacation to a friend. I ask them to practice so that when comes time to present their page they will feel more confident and more comfortable.

Grade 3
We are working on understanding the article a and an and when we use them. We use a before a word that starts with a consonant (ex: a lion ) and we use an before a consonant (ex: an elephant).The kids are going to be using this a lot during the year so I really want them to understand it. They are working really hard and well! I am glad.

week of September 3rd to 7th

Grade 1
This  week we sang and learned the song Hello from Super Simple Songs. The students learned how are you? and the students learned to asnwer with I'm good/ I'm great / I'm Wonderful / I'm tired / I'm Hungry / I'm not so good. The students love the song and we had a great time practicing!
I also introduced the routinewe work on our class. Every class we write the date, count, work on the alphabet and eventually we add the weather and colours.

Grade 2
This week we worked on asking the students what they did this summer. The students then each have a sentence that they write and a drawing to go with their text. They will present this project to their class in the next week.

Grade 3
We introduced the New Adventures workbook and did a review of our class rules. The students will be working on basic English words to use during English class.

Looking forward to  SUPER and EXCITING 2018-2019 school year!!!
